Matthew Perry’s ex ‘doesn’t believe’ official cause of death as she shares fears

Friends star Matthew Perry dies aged 54

Matthew Perry’s sudden death shocked the globe late last month after the 54-year-old was found dead in his jacuzzi.

Matthew’s death certificate was released by the Los Angeles Police Department earlier this week, with a copy seen by the E! News noting that initial tests were “inconclusive” after an initial postmortem showed no signs of meth or fentanyl in his system with more tests due to discover his definitive cause of death.

However, his ex-girlfriend Kayti Edwards, who dated the Friends actor in 2006 and remained close to the Hollywood star in the years since, has some concerns about these results, and the fact that no substances were reportedly found at his home.

She claimed Matthew, who had been open about his various addiction struggles in his memoir that was published just last year, was incredibly cautious to not leave evidence of his substance abuse, such as going out of his way to ensure the drugs weren’t simply “lying around”.

The former model told The Sun: “He was paranoid and would take them all, so there wasn’t any evidence, and then go out for more when he was ready to.”

She noted there are a number of facts that “aren’t adding up” for her, and the accidental drowning in his Jacuzzi “doesn’t sound right”.

She claimed: “He wouldn’t have just drowned. I think he might have taken pills in the week leading up to this.”

The mother-of-four also brought up his social media use in the run-up to his death, saying the “Mattman” alter ego he used in a post days before his body was found was indicative that he was using substances again.

The now haunting post saw the actor relaxing in his Jacuzzi as the moon illuminated the sky above him with the intriguing caption: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”

Kayti recalled: “I was around when he was getting high, although I was not getting high with him, and when I would say maybe he should cool it a little bit with the drugs, he would say, ‘No, I’m Mattman’.”

The former model dated Matthew briefly in 2006 but maintained a close relationship with the star after they broke up, even becoming his assistant in 2011.
