Have been named as accused in a criminal case in the 2G scam and they are now wanted in the United States. According to media reports, the United States Department of Justice has issued an extradition request to the Indian government for the arrest of the two. They were among the six people indicted in the case in November 2013 by a special investigation team of the United States Justice Department. The two are alleged to have benefited during the course of the spectrum allocation process for the telecom company-cum-telecom regulator Cellular Telecommunications Private Limited in the year 2007. The charges in the case are under the Wire Fraud Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Investment Company Act of 1976. During the trial, the Special Investigation Team, SIT, produced A Raja who was also the then member of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Trai, for the government at the time. The Congress party spokesperson was the then president of the Cellular Operators Association of India, COAI, and the Raja was then the chief of COAI. The US government has requested India to take action.
