Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash told off at NTAs for being late
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash enjoy NTAs red carpet
Stacey Solomon has admitted she was “told off” at the NTAs after time spent chatting to fans on the red carpet made her late.
The 33-year-old Sort Your Life Out star, who was accompanied by her former EastEnders actor husband Joe Swash, shared a clip on Instagram revealing exactly why she was so delayed.
“By the time we got to the end of the carpet, we were being told off for being late because we took over an hour chatting away to everyone along the way,” she captioned it.
The affection between Stacey and her fans is clear to see, with the star being declared a “real-life Disney princess” by followers, and her in turn expressing gratitude for “the best Insta family anyone could wish for”.
However, as she acknowledged on her Stories, she caught a little too carried away smiling for countless selfies, chatting to fans and even hugging one of them.

That led to the incident Stacey had referenced, where she was “told off” for her time-keeping.
There was also a hiccup when her pink five-tiered tulle dress, with a glittery sequined corset, turned out to be so bouffant that she could scarcely stand next to Joe for the photo call.
The pair attempted to pose together, but her dress seemingly got in the way and Joe, who looked dapper in a tailored black suit, bumped into her while trying to get closer.
“Everyone else seems to nail it,” she captioned the video, before confiding with a tears of laughter emoji: “Me and Joe are SOOOO AWKWARD.”

Stacey was also in the rare position of being able to have three family members close by during the ceremony, which she enthused over to her 5.7 million followers.
“One of the most special parts of the night was the fact that I got to have both of my sisters by my side,” she revealed.
“Sam, my eldest sister’s husband was nominated for behind the scenes and Jemma got invited by @abbottlyon.
“I’ve only ever been allowed a plus one and of course that’s always Joe, so this was honestly magical for me,” the emotional star concluded.
Meanwhile, she revealed as she twirled to the tune of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Beauty and the Beast that her dress had made her feel like “a princess for the night”.
Looking slightly self-conscious, she added that she’d “felt a bit silly” recording the video and had even questioned whether to post it, but decided to take the plunge in the end.
“I felt so special last night and I need to stop worrying about looking silly & start celebrating feeling amazing… Wear the dress, go all out, & do what makes you happy no matter what anyone else might think. Because those chances don’t come everyday & you never know where life will take you. So why not feel like you’re in a dream for a moment?” she wrote.
“I know we didn’t win our NTA but I feel so proud to have been nominated for a show that so many people put their hearts and souls into, and I’m so grateful for every single vote, message of support & words of kindness that you all gave to us,” Stacey concluded, adding that she “couldn’t have lost to a more deserving winner”, the late Paul O’Grady.
