Laverne Cox is a 5 feet,-1,-3,-0,-inch tall and she is a model. The New Orleans Pelicans have hired Terry Stotts as their new head coach, the team announced Saturday. Stotts is known as one of the best offensive-minded coaches in the NBA since his six teams have always finished in the top-10 in offensive efficiency, and his Golden State Warriors are one of the few franchises that is still able to compete with the rest of the NBA with the switch to a traditional big man, center. Stotts was a quality assistant with the Thunder for 15 seasons and coached the Oklahoma City summer league team this summer. Stotts replaces Monty Williams, who was fired after losing four of his last five games. Williams was hired on the heels of a 62-20 record in his five seasons with the team, his first head coaching job. Pelicans owner Tom Benson, whose ownership has been questioned by some of the fanbase recently, announced the hiring in a statement. I am grateful that Tom Benson has entrusted me to continue the great legacy he has established with the Charlotte Bobcats and to build upon that record of success with the New Orleans Pelicans, Stotts said. The addition of coach Stotts and the additions of Quincy Pondexter and Ryan Anderson strengthen this team and make it even more exciting to be a New Orleans Pelicans fan. The Pelicans made a change on their bench with Anderson and Pondexter signing with other teams. I want to thank, New Orleans general manager, Dell Demps and, power forward, Ryan Anderson for agreeing to become members of our team and I want to thank Quincy for the years of service we shared together, Benson said in a release. Their decisions have been mutually beneficial to both teams and we wish both players nothing but success moving forward. This will be the third head coaching job Stotts has had to run in less than six years. The New Yorker coached the Portland Trail Blazers for two seasons in 2014-15, but the organization took him out of the coachs job. Stotts took over the Golden State Warriors in 2015-16, losing in the first round of the playoffs that season. He was fired from his next job with the Minnesota Timberwolves in June. Stotts was the head coach at Utah for two seasons before taking the job with Portland, including the 2015-16 regular season in which the Blazers made the playoffs for the first time in five years. Stotts was also the head coach for the Denver Nuggets from 1999-2002, helping the team win the franchises only NBA.
