The ex-Manchester United ace called Kate Greville his “angel” in one note, adding: “I’m the luckiest man alive to have ever met you.” She replied: “I love all of you. Your beautiful mind. The fire in your soul.” Messages between the pair were read out by Giggs’ defence team at Manchester Crown Court.
Giggs, 48, denies subjecting Kate, 38, to years of controlling and coercive behaviour and assaulting her and her sister, Emma.
On August 30 2017, Kate told him in a message: “You make my heart flutter because you are a nutter. Every day you do me proud not just because you are well endowed.” Giggs replied: “I fell in love with you at first sight. I remember coz I was as high as a kite.”
Earlier, prosecutor Peter Wright accused Giggs of making himself out to be the “victim” after he allegedly headbutted Kate and assaulted Emma during a row at his home in Worsley Gtr Manchester in 2020.
Giggs denied it but admitted he had tried to use his daughter Libby “as a lever” to stop Emma calling the police. During the 999 call, Emma is heard saying: “I don’t care if your daughter is 17”. Mr Wright said: “The reality is you headbutted her, [Kate] didn’t you?”
Giggs replied: “No.”
The trial continues.
