Rod Stewart left heartbroken over death of his second brother in weeks

Just two months after losing his brother Don, Rod Stewart has revealed that his other brother Bob has sadly passed away.

The legendary singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the news, telling his followers that Bob passed away on Tuesday evening.

Sharing a picture of candlelight next to "Rest In Peace", Rod, 77, penned: "It’s with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky."

"I’ve lost two of my best mates in the space of two months," he added.

"RIP Don and Bob ‘irreplaceable buddies’ Sir Rod Stewart."

Many famous faces shared messages of condolences with the singer, with actress Sharon Stone writing: "I’m terribly sorry for your loss my friend."

"How sad… deepest condolences to you all. RIP Bob," wrote Piers Morgan, while X Factor's Sam Bailey wrote, "So sorry xx thinking of you all xx"

Fans also commented on the post, with some sharing personal anecdotes and others simply wishing him the best at this difficult time.

"So very sorry for your loss Deepest condolences to you and your family," wrote one person.

Another wrote: "Very sad news for you and the family Rod, thoughts with you and everyone effected."

A third said: "Sorry for your Loss Sir Rod Stewart May He Rest In Peace Amen."

Back in September, just days before the death of Queen Elizabeth, Rod revealed that his brother Don had died at the age of 94.

At the time, he wrote: "It has been a devastating 48 hours.

"We lost my brother Don on Tuesday at 94 and today we have all lost Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 96."

"The Queen has been an unwavering presence throughout my life and a great unifier. A shining star that will never fade in our hearts and souls," he added.

"What a privilege it was to perform for her. My deepest sympathies to the Royal Family. God save the King."

In 2019, Rod paid tribute to Don at his sister Mary's 90th birthday party, where he said: "I've got to tell you, these guys were instrumental in supporting me, helping me get into music and just being there for me.

"Whether it was football or washing my dirty underpants, I can't speak highly enough about these guys.

"These guys have just been effing brilliant throughout my life."We've had our arguments haven't we Don? The odd punch-up now and again but I love you, and I love you, Mary."
