Ricky Gervais fosters adorable cat months after death of beloved Ollie

Ricky Gervais and Jane Fallon have shared the most gorgeous news, revealing they fostered a cat this week.

The sweet update comes after the pair’s beloved cat Ollie, who was 16 years old, died in March after a period of poor health.

Now it seems the animal lovers and activists couldn’t go too long without another furry love in their lives, as they shared a shot of their foster cat to Twitter, lounging on the stairs on Monday.

Ricky wrote alongside the cute snap: ‘Fostering this little beauty for a few days until she goes to her forever home.’

Jane added her own snippet, telling followers the new addition to the household had been a little camera shy up to this point.

She wrote: ‘I’ve been dying to tell you all this!! Was waiting to get a picture but she’s been hiding.’

Fans were going gaga for Ricky’s foster cat, as they shared a bunch of images of their own much-loved kitties.

One fan even suggested the fostered cat may turn permanent, as they wrote: ‘Hope you are better at fostering than I am. Have had my last foster pup for seven years now, and a foster kitten never left either.’

In March Ricky broke the sad news of Ollie’s death, describing the beloved family member as ‘the sweetest little soul I’ve ever known’.

Jane added on Twitter: ‘My smart, funny, feisty, beautiful sidekick of the last 16 & a half years @myleftfang has passed away after a sudden downturn in her health at the weekend.

‘My heart is broken in two. I have no idea what I’m going to do without her by my side.’

Ricky received Ollie as a surprise gift from Jonathan Ross in 2003 and she was named after Ricky’s comedy hero Oliver Hardy.

The Siamese cat – who fell ill in April 2019 and needed an IV drip inserted into her stomach – even had thousands of her own followers on Twitter under the handle @myleftfang.
