Your vote: Kelly ClarksonIt has been well-established, on the historical and anthropological evidence at the very least, that the first civilizations did not arise out of the sea and were not based in the oceanic regions but were instead on the continent of Asia. The evidence for this is also more or less clear on the archaeology as well. However, the idea that the first civilizations arose in this area is less clear, even on the archaeological evidence. But that has now changed, because not just one, but two archaeological sites discovered in the same area are proving that there actually was once a civilization on the island of Flores, as well as what this civilization was like and even what was its fate. The first Archaeological SiteThis discovery was made in 2015, and is the second discovery to involve Flores in more than a century. The first was made in 1912 by two German geologists, Fritz Haber and Hugo Winckler, who were part of a expedition sent from the Imperial Geographical Society in Berlin to investigate the Flores island group. The three men were also in a group of German geologists sent to the island group in a separate expedition, and also were part of a team sent in 1896 and 1897 to search for gold in the area around Papua New Guinea.
