Michelle Keegan humbled as family dig out hilarious Corrie throwback snaps

Michelle Keegan was “humbled” by her family as they taunted her with a throwback snap from her time on Coronation Street.

In 2008, a 20 year old Michelle, now 35, beat out 900 other actors for the role of Tina McIntyre and quickly became one of the standout fan favourites on the soap.

From 2010, she was the barmaid of the instantly recognisable Rovers Return and had notable relationships with Jack P. Shepherd’s David Platt, Chris Fountain’s Tommy Duckworth and Chris Gascoyne’s Peter Barlow.

On Thursday, the actress, who is now married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, took to Instagram with a screenshot of a conversation with her brother Andrew.

The message came at 8am and showed a baby-faced Michelle from her time on the ITV soap, complete with her iconic hopped earrings and the message: “Morning.”

It’s not known whether Michelle replied to her brother, though she added in the caption: “No one humbles you like your family.”

Following her stint on the soap, which ended when she was violently murdered by Carla Connor’s brother, Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis, Michelle worked on projects like Plebs, Our Girl and Brassic.

This comes after Michelle took to social media to announce that she was joining the cast of an upcoming Netflix drama, Fool Me Once.

The series, which is based on a book of the same name by Harlan Coben, follows Michelle’s character Maya Stern who discovered her murdered husband attempting to break into their house.

Beside a picture of herself reading the book on a sun bed, Michelle wrote: "Finally the secrets out!! I’m over the moon to be joining the cast of FOOL ME ONCE, a @netflixuk thriller based on the book by the extremely talented @harlancoben. Here we goooo…”

The show will also star Richard Armitage and Joanna Lumley, with fans already excited to binge it.

One person said: “YESSSSS!!! What a goddess!!!”

“Wow I can’t wait I’ve watched all of Harlem cobens shows on Netflix there so good xxx,” wrote another, with Mark’s cousin Eliott Wright adding: “Well done can’t wait to watch it x”

“GO girl,” added Rochelle Humes, while Louise Thompson chimed in with a simple: “Well done.”

Harlan Coben earlier described the series as a "pulse-pounder" and claimed it is "a shocking story of how secrets and deceit have the power to bring people together while simultaneously tearing them apart."

Fool Me Once will be the author’s third time working with the streaming giant after previous successful projects, The Stranger, Safe and Stay Close.
