Earlier this month, Strictly Come Dancing 2020 stars Maisie Smith and HRVY were snapped leaving the studio together in the early hours of the morning after filming the BBC show, sparking romance rumours. The 19-year-old actress, who is best known for playing Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders, has set the record straight on the nature of their relationship.
Speaking about the day they were pictured together, Maisie, who is living on her own while taking part in the programme, said some of the cast had stayed behind for a socially-distanced chat.
“Everyone’s on such a high after the show, and before I have to go home on my own, a few of us may stay behind and chat – at a distance, of course,” she said, during an interview with this week’s OK! Magazine.
“Me and HRVY left at a similar time, but that’s because he didn’t want me to walk out of the studio alone,” the soap star explained.
“Yeah, it was late, but it was simply a socially distanced get-together, nothing more,” she added.
Asked if she would go on a date with the 21-year-old singer when the series is over, Maisie said she hadn’t ruled it out in the future.
“Right now… I think it’d be a ‘no’ as I love the friendship we have and I don’t want to ruin that, but I don’t know what’s going to happen a couple of months down the line.”
HRVY, real name Harvey Cantwell, has previously described his co-star as “a great girl,” however, current coronavirus restrictions prevent them from getting too close.
“Do you know what, she’s great, she’s a very good dancer, she’s very beautiful, she’s a lovely girl,” he said while speaking to Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp.

Maisie, the youngest contestant in the competition, has had her confidence knocked on the show in recent weeks, finding herself in the dreaded dance off for two weeks in a row.
Last week, the actress and her dance partner Gorka Marquez went up against Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe, despite being in joint second position on the leaderboard.
They avoided elimination and return to the dance floor to perform a Quickstep to When You’re Smiling by Andy Williams.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 7.15pm and Sunday at 7.25pm on BBC One, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
