Loose Women’s Sophie Morgan’s stalker hell: ‘The threats I got were horrible’
Loose Women presenter Sophie Morgan has opened up about dealing with a stalker in 2018, telling OK! it was "horrible."
The star – who joined the Loose Women panel last autumn – was targeted by Robert Keegan on a daily basis, who was later convicted.
For our shoot with her mum, Carol, at her parents' home in Sussex, Sophie, 37, told us that it was an extremely hard moment in her life.
“At the time, I wasn’t using social media that much and I wasn’t making as much TV," she explained.
"It was shocking that I was targeted and the level of threat was horrible."
Sophie has just released her new memoir Driving Forwards: A Journey of Resilience and Empowerment After Life-Changing Injury, which details her life before and after her car crash aged 18. A resulting spinal injury means Sophie now uses a wheelchair
The trailblazer details the highs and lows of her life in her book, and when it comes to her stalker Sophie revealed to us she took herself off social media for a long time after the ordeal, only returning recently.
“There’s little you can do to protect yourself but you have to be careful about what, where and when you post," she said.
Now, Sophie sees other women posting about their location on social media, but is apprehensive about doing that herself.
“I see women post about being at a certain bar and I just think you are telling these people where you are," the star explained.
"I won’t do that unless I know I’m safe. It’s scary, because you’re exposed. It’s dangerous and you have to be careful.”
Speaking of social media, OK! asked whether Sophie has had to deal with the trolling so many celebrities have fallen victim to. Her experience has been mixed.
"I’ve had some bad experiences and I’ve also had some wonderful experiences," she said.
"I’ve gained a beautiful group of friends and I think it’s a great space to educate yourself, to connect with people.
“I know how to protect myself, but the sharing of content around disability on social media is so important.”
