Darryl Martin, 37, of Cottesmore Crescent, Liverpool – pictured – was today made the subject of a restraining order to prevent him from contacting the victim or contacting other members of his family for five years. Martin, who had already received a conditional discharge, pleaded guilty to one charge of attempting to commit robbery during an incident at his home in the Lothrop area of the city on April 5 last year. The court heard Martin was the victim of a knife attack while he was sleeping in the lounge room of his home. Martin, who had a previous conviction for theft when he was 16-years-old, told a police officer in his interview he had stabbed the victim after he ran away from a group of men who were causing a problem in the area. Martin told police: I stabbed him after one of the men left the flat and was going to confront the other guy. When he ran off, I stabbed him, I was just protecting myself.
