Kylie Minogues love life under the microscope as she addresses gossip
Kylie Minogue fans are keen to know what’s going on in her love life – but she’s ambivalent about the public’s “love of gossip”.
The 55-year-old Spinning Around songstress has had a string of high-profile relationships, including with Lenny Kravitz, actor Olivier Martinez and Jason Donovan, who also doubled as her on-screen lover in the soap Neighbours.
Addressing fans’ interest in her love life, she told Vogue Australia: “There’s a level of acceptance that that’s the way it is, and I think mostly it’s driven by, we all love a bit of gossip!”
“It’s kind of like what would’ve happened over the fence forever ago, but it would be great to move on from the ‘She’s lucky in love, she’s unlucky in love’, because it’s just not that simple,” she exclaimed.
“I wonder if a lot of that started with the fact that I was Scott and Charlene or Kylie and Jason.”

Kylie and Jason Donovan became a married couple on Neighbours back in 1988, with 20 million fans tuning in to watch the nuptials – but behind the scenes, a real-life romance was unfolding, making it difficult for fans to separate fact from fiction.
The lines blurred as it emerged that Kylie had become Jason’s “first love” in real life – and he later admitted that they’d consummated their relationship at a Travelodge in Sydney.
“Travelodges in those days were posh places,” Jason insisted on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories show, after claiming that Kylie had “chased” him and he’d “eventually” given in.
Unfortunately, he began to feel that she was slowly “slipping away” from him as the pair started to argue more frequently – and eventually, she left him, going on to date INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.

However, there was an unusual twist to the tale when Michael rescued his girlfriend’s ex after he had a “seizure” at Kate Moss’s 21st birthday bash.
Jason’s mind is blank when it comes to memories of that night, but he explained: “Michael took the drugs off me that night and got me into the ambulance. It was good of him to do that.”
Michael later died prematurely himself and was found dead in a Sydney hotel room aged just 37.
Following her relationship with Michael, which ended in 1991, Kylie is believed to have had a brief fling with Lenny Kravitz, followed by a two-year relationship with French actor and director Stéphane Sednaoui.
In 2000, she enjoyed a three-year relationship with hunky male model James Gooding, but the pair went on to split.
A five-year relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez followed, and Kylie spoke warmly of how supportive he’d been following her shock diagnosis in 2005 with breast cancer.
The pair split in 2007 and she then moved on with model Andres Velencoso for a further four years, before turning to British actor Joshua Sasse in 2015.
The pair got engaged as an “experiment” but ultimately decided against tying the knot, with Kylie explaining she “doesn’t think marriage is for her” – and now her latest relationship with GQ Magazine’s Paul Solomons has now ended too, leaving her single again.
However, the star – who has just begun a Las Vegas residency to promote her new album Tension – has revealed she’s “happy” with her current relationship status.
She concluded to the Aussie edition of Vogue that she has no problem with fans’ speculation over her love life if it is “well-meant” and driven by “good intentions”.
