Comedian Judi Love has been heaping praise onto her Celebrity Gogglebox and Loose Women gal pal Charlene White for her stint in the I’m A Celeb jungle.
While admitting she's "loving" the current series, Judi, 42, added that she was relieved that the spotlight is finally moving from former Health Secretary Matt Hancock – whose decision to join the show has been controversial – to the other campmates.
"I have been loving I’m A Celebrity… this year," Judi writes in her OK! column this week. "Not only because my Gogglebox partner-in-crime Charlene White is taking part, but because it’s been amazing to see all of the campmates getting into the swing of jungle life.
"And it’s been great to see other campmates, like Chris Moyles, Owen Warner and Jill Scott taking part in the trials – we were getting a bit sick of Matt Hancock hogging the spotlight!"
Judi continued: "You could tell at first they were hesitant about what the show had in store for them, but at this point in the series, we’re starting to see them relax, which in turn is making their fun personalities shine through."
Charlene's fellow Loose lady Denise Welch also shared Judi's thoughts this week, arguing that the ex-MP's presence on the show has "robbed" his fellow campmates of allowing their true selves to shine through.
Denise, 64, exclusively told OK! this week: "I absolutely wanted everyone in that jungle to hold him to account for what he’s done but I have to empathise with them."
She added: "When you’re in such a strange environment, with limited contact with the public, it’s easy to feel very lonely and isolated, so you’re forced to simply get on with the people who are sharing this environment. It’s the only way to make the situation liveable.
"Above anything, knowing you’re under the watchful eye of those at home, you definitely don’t want to be in the middle of conflict because you can’t know how it’s going to be interpreted on the outside."
"They’re absolutely trapped in a Catch-22 situation."
Charlene was first to leave the jungle last Friday, but before her exit Denise admitted she's "angry" her pal is "not enjoying the experience she was promised."
"She’s a strong, feisty, opinionated but hysterically funny woman," she said.
"But she’s not being given the screen time she deserves to show the world a side to her they might not see on Loose Women or the news, all because I think every thought of hers surrounds, ‘How should I be around Matt Hancock?’
"Charlene has spent all of her career having to be completely impartial and serious but behind the scenes on Loose Women, the two of us love nothing more than trying to make the other women wet themselves laughing.
"Matt Hancock being in there has completely stopped her from kicking back, relaxing and showing her true self. I can see it in her eyes – every time she laughs at something he’s said, she’s thinking, ‘Oh god, I don’t want people to think I’ve forgiven him.’"
