Holly Willoughby has joked about avoiding a hangover after the National Television Awards (NTAs) as she looked fresh-faced on This Morning on Wednesday morning.
The TV presenter, 42, has become known for her boozy morning-after appearances on the ITV show alongside her former co-host Phillip Schofield after pulling all-nighters at the annual event over the years.
But Holly had a much-more low-key night out at the star-studded event at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday night, instead heading off for a burger at the end of the ceremony rather than partying the night away.
Her swift exit came after Holly and This Morning suffered a huge blow as the show lost its 12-year winning streak at the NTAs following the Phillip Schofield scandal.
And co-hosting This Morning with Craig Doyle on Wednesday, Holly joked about her lack of a hangover as she looked very fresh-faced and revealed the reason she didn’t join in the wild partying the night before.

Reflecting on the NTAs, her co-host Craig admitted: ‘I feel strong, and I don’t feel hungover,’ with Holly quipping: ‘Well that’s a first.’
Craig added: ‘Because it was a possibility,’ while Holly joked: ‘Well there’s always a possibility.’
Holly then blamed her very tight-fitting dress for her decision to avoid the boozy night out, admitting her gown proved an issue when she tried to go to the bathroom.
‘The problem with that dress was, it was a bit wiggly and really tight around the thighs,’ she candidly explained.
‘I had to go for a pee in the hotel – sharing too much but right now but I’m just going to tell you the truth – and I couldn’t pull it up, and I was so tied in tightly so nothing fell out the top so I also couldn’t pull it down.
‘So I had to go in the hotel and that was it until I knew I was getting home to the hotel.’
Craig said in shock: ‘That was around five or six hours!’ with Holly adding: ‘I had half a glass of the prosecco I think.’
Teasing she planned to have a belated boozy night out on Wednesday, she teased: ‘So tonight!’
Instead of a wild night out partying, Holly instead made a swift exit and headed off for a burger, sharing an amusing snap of herself tucking into her treat.
Speaking to Lorraine in a preview clip ahead of This Morning, Holly said of her late-night snack: ‘I kept the pickles in as well, it felt like I needed a pickle at that point! It was incredible.’
While Craig said of her sneaking off: ‘I was in a car with Alison and we were like “No! Why didn’t she tell us?”‘

Naughty! Before their partnership came to an end earlier this year, Holly and Phillip left viewers in hysterics in 2016 when they turned up to host This Morning after an NTAs all-nighter
She was later offered a margarita by her co-star and she joked: ‘I’d normally be like how dare you bring that in the night after the NTAs, but I’m almost tucking into this immediately.’
Holly suffered another career blow at Tuesday’s National Television Awards after This Morning lost its 12-year winning streak.
The show has won the Daytime award for more than a decade but following the Phillip Schofield scandal, lost out to The Repair Show.
Addressing their loss, Holly stayed very positive as she simply thanked fans for their support on Wednesday’s This Morning and heaped praise on The Repair Shop.
‘A massive thank you for voting for us and getting us through to the short list, so thank you always for your love and support,’ she gushed.
Speaking of The Repair Shop’s host Jay Blades, Holly gushed over his kindness and told how they shared a hug after his win.
She said: ‘A huge congratulations to The Repair Shop, well done you. Jay Blades, just a special squeeze and lots of love to him, he ran over to us and gave us all a big cuddle which I just thought was class and gorgeous, I didn’t want to let go.’
While Craig added of the occasion: ‘Lovely man, lovely atmosphere in that part of the room, it’s like a lovely Christmas party.’

Scandal: Holly sought to focus on enjoying the NTAs and dodged questions around her former co-host Phillip and his ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague
During the ceremony, the NTA audience also appeared to boo scandal-plagued show This Morning during the star-studded ceremony at the O2 in London.
The incident occurred as The One Show’s Jermaine Jenas and Roman Kemp took to the stage to announce the nominations for Best Daytime Show – an award typically scooped by This Morning.
EXCL: Holly Willoughby reveals her fears for future as she runs NTA red carpet gauntlet
She spent considerable time warding off questions about her own future, Phillip Schofield and allegations of a toxic atmosphere at ITV’s This Morning.
While introducing a fun clip from the ITV series the audience were heard shouting and booing.
Elsewhere, after The Repair Shop’s win, host Jay Blades encouraged the crowd to cheer as the show’s team took to the stage at The O2 and took a picture of the moment as he noted it was a ‘rarity’ for them to be winning the prize.
Blades thanked those who voted and the team behind the show, adding: ‘I would like to salute my experts, they are my family.’
He also praised his fellow nominees at This Morning, The Chase and Loose Women, saying: ‘We’re the new kids on the block ad I’m glad we’ve won this time.
‘I know it won’t be a regular thing so thank you.’
This Morning’s loss come after Holly’s negatively received return to the sofa this week and dip in ratings.
The presenter continued to face down the show’s ‘make or break’ battle for survival following the Schofield scandal as Monday’s show received just 565,000 viewers – a loss of 171,000 from Friday’s show which bagged 736,000.
In another blow, Phillip unfollowed Holly on Instagram hours before the ceremony but still follows her sister Kelly. At the time of writing Holly still follows Phillip on Instagram.
But Holly didn’t seem too worried by the ratings drop-off, telling MailOnline she ‘just wants the future to continue as it is.’

As she admitted, however, whether that future comes to pass is not down to her, or any of her co-hosts – instead it is down to the viewers, many of whom have become disillusioned by the show and its attempts to distract from claims of a toxic culture.
Despite admitting fan support has been ‘up and down’, she still seems to have a loyal base of supporters who give her a sense of optimism for the future.
‘If I’m honest it’s been really up and down. But what’s lovely is people rallying around you. The support is there. People want us to do well. It all feels good again.’
‘I just want to the future to continue as it is. We are very blessed we have a great team of people we really do.’
She sought to focus on enjoying the NTAs on the red carpet, dodging questions around her former co-host and his ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague.
‘Everybody has been so lovely tonight and everyone is so happy to meet you. I mean you’re in their living room everyday it’s not like meeting someone from Coronation Street,’ she said.
‘I know there’s been a lot of talk about things and for me personally, I don’t want to speak on behalf of other people, it’s a world I don’t recognise.
‘For me, I look around and see the team getting ready and giving it all. I just want to come to work and have more of that.’
Following This Morning’s shock loss, Holly made a low-key exit alongside her husband Dan Baldwin before sending their car straight to McDonalds.
Documenting the night’s events, she posted a picture of herself tucking into a greasy burger and also proved there were no hard feelings on losing out as she shared a selfie with The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades on Instagram.

Winners! Ant and Dec claimed their 22nd NTA at the annual ceremony and claimed the award ahead of the much fancied Alison Hammond, notably selected ahead of her co-host Holly
Holly and Phillip are known for turning up to the morning show, still dressed in their NTA gowns, straight after a night on the booze – but there wasn’t a repeat of their post-night-out antics this year after her swift exit.
The NTAs were a night of what ifs for Alison Hammond and This Morning, but it was business as usual for Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as the National Television Awards got underway on Tuesday evening.
Beneath the lights of London’s O2 Arena, it was Ant and Dec who claimed their 22nd NTA at the annual ceremony following a successful return to the Australian jungle with ITV1 juggernaut I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
The pair claimed the award ahead of the much fancied Alison, notably selected ahead of her This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby in the category for Best Presenter.

Ant and Dec – who were also competing with Martin Lewis, Claudia Winkleman and Bradley Walsh for Best Presenter – admitted they were ‘more nervous than ever’ before going into the event on Tuesday evening, but were just as ‘humbled and grateful’ to receive the honour as they had ever been.
Ant said: ‘Thank you so much to the NTAs we’ve got quite a long list of thank yous, all of the shows and the people we work with, we are the luckiest two men on telly because we’ve got the best production teams and the best people to work with, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’
His presenting partner Declan Donnelly added: ‘Thank you to ITV, to Kevin and Katie and all the team at ITV for your continued support. Thank you to our fantastic management team for your support, thank you gang, you’re up in the box somewhere.
‘Thank you to our lovely wives, our beautiful children. I can’t believe that we are still getting away with this…’
Ant interrupted: Were you more nervous than ever?’
Dec agreed: ‘Ever before, hands are sticky, my heart is beating, but we are as humbled and grateful tonight as we were the first time we won, so thank you for taking the time to vote for us, we really appreciate it.’
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ presenters promised to keep working together for as long as possible.
Dec said: ‘We’ll see you back on telly very soon.’
Ant added: ‘We’ll keep doing it for as long as you want us to keep doing it.’
Earlier in the evening, the TV Interview honour went to The Graham Norton Show but unlike category rivals Louis Theroux, Piers Morgan and Chris and Rosie Ramsay, the host wasn’t at the ceremony to be able to accept the accolade in person
Triumph: EastEnders rounded off the night by winning the award for Best Serial Drama
The Traitors won the Reality Competition prize, while the third season of ‘Happy Valley’ landed the Returning Drama honour.
The evening’s first award, the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, was presented to Gogglebox.
Happy Valley also triumphed on the night, with the show winning in the category for Returning Drama, while actress Sarah Lancashire claimed the award for best Drama Performance.
The actress saw off tough competition from her co-star James Norton, Queen Charlotte’s India Amarteifio, Vera’s Brenda Blethyn and Call The Midwife’s Judy Parfitt to claim the prize.
Collecting the award on stage, she said: ‘Thank you so much for this. I have adored every scene, every moment of Happy Valley and I know I will never forget it.
She praised creator Sally Wainwright saying that she is ‘what makes Happy Valley’ and that you are the ‘luckiest actor in the world’ if you are a receipt of her words.
