Dame Joan Collins, 88, is renowned for her strong views on a variety of topics, however, one matter she will not discuss is that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the UK, known as “Megxit”. The esteemed Hollywood actress was born in London but spent a number of years in the US where she worked on shows such as the 80s soap opera, Dynasty.

These days Dame Joan splits her time between her Belgravia home and spending summers in the South Of France, but always keeps up to date with the latest international news.

She follows the culture wars carefully and reads the media landscape astutely. Apart from the odd “anodyne” post, she largely steers clear of social media due to cancel culture.

“I don’t want to engage in any way, shape or form with these morons,” she says.

This could also be why she doesn’t want to comment on Prince Harry and Meghan either.

“I think they’ve had enough oxygen in the press,” she stated icily to The Sunday Times.

However, the Dynasty legend branded the Duke of Cambridge and wife Kate Middleton, both 39, as “great”.

She said the couple “do a lot for the country” as she compared them to Harry and Meghan.

“But what I will say is that I absolutely love Kate Middleton and Prince William and their three children.”

The royals are parents to Princes George, eight, and Louis, three, as well as six-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Joan continued to MailOnline: “I think they’re great, and I’d rather read about them because I think they do a lot for the country.

“I don’t really wish to talk about the other two [Harry and Meghan].”

Her latest chat coincides with the release of her latest book, My Unapologetic Diaries.

It sees the Golden Globe winner name drop everyone from Donald Trump to Debbie Reynolds, while giving her own opinions on meeting them.

In a teaser published by the aforementioned publication, it wasn’t just the royals she spoke candidly about.

Joan reflected on meeting the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, who died in 2017.

While she was being branded a society beauty by many, the former begged to differ.

Describing her as “plain, verging on the horsey”, Joan has addressed her statement.

She added: “What’s wrong with that? It’s true. I mean, I’m sorry.

“What am I supposed to say? She’s a beauty? I have friends who say, ‘Hello, gorgeous’ to everyone.”

Joan married her fifth husband Percy Gibson, 56, in February of 2002 at Claridge’s Hotel in London.

It was Percy’s second marriage, as he was previously married to Cynthia Bauer for over a decade.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain in 2020, the veteran actress was asked if she would have met her now-husband when she was in her 30s, to which she replied “He wasn’t born!” referencing the 31-year age difference between the pair.
