Great British Bake Off confirm fan favourite has left the Channel 4 show ahead of the final as viewers call for them to be made a ‘fifth host’
A Great British Bake Off favourite has confirmed they have left the Channel 4 show ahead of Tuesday’s final despite viewers begging for them to stay.
The show’s official Instagram account announced the news that sign language interpreter Daryl won’t be making an appearance on tonight’s show.
Daryl had been appearing on the Channel 4 programme all series to support deaf contestant, Tasha.
Unfortunately, Tasha missed out on a place in the final after her bakes collapsed at the final hurdle last week.
Viewers have been left calling for Daryl to remain on the baking show and act as its ‘fifth host’.

The show’s official Instagram account announced the news that sign language interpreter Daryl won’t be making an appearance on tonight’s show
The newly-famed TV star found himself at the front of the infamous Bake Off tent alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding as well as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
The statement read: ‘We’re also saying a fond farewell to Tasha’s BSL interpreter Daryl.
‘We thank him so much for everything he’s done in the Tent over the last nine weeks.’
Fans rushed to the comments to ask is Daryl could be made a ‘permanent part of the team’ while others gushed that they had ‘picked up some signs’ after watching him each week.
One wrote: ‘In a way, it would be nice for him to just stay and sign for all the deaf viewers at home.’
Another added: ‘Adding another vote for Daryl being a permanent part of the team.’
A third said: ‘In one season of the show, I’ve picked up some signs because we’re seeing it every week (and have now signed up for a course to learn). Imagine how much better it would be if this is what multiple shows did in having a sign-language interpreter as part of the show for everyone.’

Someone penned: ‘I think he should be permanently in the tent!! So many people with hearing impairments would appreciate him being there.’
Another wrote: ‘Erm petition to keep Daryl as the fifth member of the bake off team!’
Before a sixth penned: ‘I second Daryl being a permanent fixture for inclusivity going forward. He has become part of the team.’
Three competitors, Dan, Matty, and Josh remain in the show and are hoping to be crowned the champion of series 14.
Their last three bakes are going to be a multi-layered Showstopper cake, a nostalgic Technical, and a choux pastry Signature.
