Shortly after the episode aired, Isobel, who has played Liv for the last seven years, appeared on the show’s Twitter page to bid farewell to fans. Fans have been distraught over Isobel’s exit, and even her costar Michelle Hardwick admitted she “cried my eyes out”.
Emmerdale fans mourned the death of the character Liv on Wednesday evening as she became the second victim of the storm after being crushed by a caravan.
Shortly after the episode aired, Liv’s actress Isobel, 21, appeared on the official Emmerdale Twitter page to bid her own personal farewells to fans of the show.
In a video tribute she shared: “Hey everyone, I’ve assumed you’ve now watched the episode where Liv’s died. Hope it made you cry, I definitely cried when I read it.
“It’s been a pleasure. It’s been the best seven years of my life and it’s been all worth it because of you. So thank you so much.”
The sorrowful atmosphere was cut short by Bradley Johnson, who plays Liv’s husband Vinny.
He interrupted Isobel jokingly: “Izzy! Security are asking for your pass back. You’re prolonging your exit a little bit.
“Just get your pass, hand it in and just kind of go.”
Over the 50 years of Emmerdale, many actors and characters have come and gone, but Isobel had been on the show since she was 14, making the farewell just a little more heartsore for her and her colleagues.
Michelle, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, retweeted Isobel’s video saying: “Cried my eyes out!” with some teary faces and heart emojis.
Fans clamoured in Michelle’s comment sections saying they too had bawled during Liv’s death scene.
One fan noted: “So emotional even my big strong man had a tear or 3.”
While another seemingly didn’t get the memo to watch the episode before browsing social media.
They shared: “Whhhhhaaaaaaaaa??????? Note to self when putting the daughter to bed avoid twitter.”
More tributes poured in for the actress across social media, many noting they couldn’t wait to see what she would do next.
Another one of Isobel’s costars, Danny Miller, penned a heartfelt tweet: “Thank you for the last 7 years. The bond Aaron & Liv had was incomparable. Nobody ever came close.
“And that’s why you’ll always be in my life. Your Mum, Dad & Con will be so proud. Onward and upwards now for you our kid!”
Danny cheekily signed off: “Love you mate. See you at the caravan.”
Isobel exits the cast just after Emmerdale celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 16.
Emmerdale continues on ITV tonight at 7:30pm.
