Eamonn Holmes slammed for Prince Harry comments saying to ‘throw him over balcony’
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes didn't hold back as he commented on Prince Harry's latest interview at the Invictus Games.
Prince Harry was speaking in a TV interview with US show Today when he opened up on his recent visit to see the Queen and claimed he wanted to make sure she was 'protected'.
The Duke of Sussex said: "It was just so nice to see her [the Queen] you know, she's on great form, she's always got a great sense of humour with me and I'm making sure she's protected and got the right people around her.
"Both Meghan and I had tea with her, so it was really nice to catch up with her."
Eamonn reacted to the interview on his breakfast news programme with co-presenter Isabel Webster.
The pair brought in former Conservative MP David Mellor and journalist Claire Muldoon for a discussion about Harry's comments.
Eamonn claimed that Harry only visited the Queen to keep up his credibility and said: "He’s bringing a book out where he’s slagging off Camilla and maybe William and his father.
"How on earth… why wouldn’t they just throw him over the balcony and her with him?"
The outspoken presenter has received a backlash of comments on social media for his comments.
Omid Scobie, Royal Editor of Harpers Bazaar and the co-author of the book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family, took to Twitter to say: "Everyone is entitled to an opinion, especially on an interview made for public consumption.
"But you know what isn't acceptable? Vile "commentary" that only serves to incite violence and hate."
Many agreed and pointed out the good work that Prince Harry was doing with the Invictus Games.
One person said: "Do you see what Prince Harry is doing for the sick and injured soldiers in The Hague @EamonnHolmes Is this what you want thrown over the balcony? They would disagree with you."
Some people added that Prince Harry's concerns about his grandmother were very natural, as one person said: "If Prince Harry wants to check with the queen that she’s well protected & taken care of, that’s normal."
Another said: "It would be abnormal if a grandson doesn’t enquire after the well-being of his grandmother."
There are calls that Eamonn's comments are looked into by TV regulator Ofcom for inciting violence.
One Twitter user said: "Eamonn Holmes' “commentary” is dangerous. There are unhinged people watching this, and it only takes one person to harm Harry and Meghan. You can't turn a blind eye to such dangerous language coming from Eamonn Holmes."
Another shared that they had reported the matter, writing: "Eamonn Holmes is so bitter and jealous of Harry… doesn't even have the sense to hide it…. reported to #Ofcom and #MetPolice."
Eamonn is already facing an investigation by Ofcom for comments he made about 5G technology and coronavirus.
