Dani Dyer calls footballer boyfriend ‘a little kid’ over gaming habit

Dani Dyer’s footballer boyfriend has opened up about their relationship for the first time, revealing the former Love Island star hates some of his habits.

Admitting Dani is less than thrilled when it comes to his love of gaming, West Ham United and England ace Jarrod Bowen tells OK! “My girlfriend hates it.

"She calls me a little kid when I have my headset on and I’m talking to my friends, but I say it brings me enjoyment and it’s my happy place. It’s a nice way to switch off.”

Dani, 26, and Jarrod, 25, confirmed their relationship back in October and the couple have been going from strength to strength ever since.

But as for whether or not presenter Dani – whose actor dad Danny is a huge West Ham fan – will be supporting him from the stands at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, Jarrod adds, “Yeah maybe, if she wants to come out there.

"I don’t know if she’ll come out there. My mum and dad and all the family will hopefully be there, but it’s just about being able to get them out there with work as it’s in the middle of winter.”

Earlier this year it was reported that Jarrod was about to pop the question to the reality star and had splashed out £10,000 on an engagement ring.

But the footballer puts those rumours to rest saying, “No, people thought I was engaged, but I don’t know where that came from.”

However, Dani – who is mum to 20-month-old son Santiago from a previous relationship with Sammy Kimmence – has made it clear that will she be expecting a proposal in the future.

Asked during an Instagram Q&A if she wants more children, Dani replied, “Absolutely! But [ring emoji] first.”

She even hinted she would ditch the Dyer surname for Bowen when her big day eventually comes. “I really love the idea of getting married and sharing a last name,” she said. “It’s the ultimate commitment to one another. I cannot wait for the day I get married.”

Dani also shared that Jarrod has the full approval of her EastEnders star father, saying, “My dad thinks Jarrod’s a lovely guy.

"He’s invested in all of the West Ham players – because he supports the team and follows some of them. He’s like, ‘They’re all my friends.’ I’m like, ‘Right. OK, Dad.’”

The couple recently enjoyed a sun-soaked holiday with little Santi. Their break came after a long season for Jarrod, which saw him travel abroad several times for England games.

Opening up about Jarrod’s time away from home, Dani recently said, “I miss him so much. This is the longest we have been apart, but I’m so proud of him so it makes it easier.”

Jarrod got the call-up for the England squad in May, with Dani revealing that she was “so proud” of her boyfriend.

“It’s what you dream of and it’s been a massive dream,” he tells us.

“Everyone else around me was crying and doing the crying for me. The first time putting the shirt on and singing the national anthem [when England played Hungary in June] was a goosebump moment and something that will live with me forever.”

And Jarrod is confident that England can go all the way and lift the World Cup later this year.

“I don’t see why we can’t,” he shares. “We’ve got to be positive and confident going into it. There’s the possibility of glory. There are lots of different emotions going into it, but excitement is the main one.”

Jarrod Bowen has teamed up with EE on the Connected Club Cup, a new Esports FIFA competition which saw grassroots gamers across England battle it out to become the Connected Club Cup champion. The final, which was held at Wembley Stadium and live streamed on Twitch using EE Full Fibre broadband, also saw Declan play in exhibition matches against the six finalists, with Alfie Calder from Nottingham crowned the winner.
