How the Beckham children have slowly morphed into David and Victoria – from Harper’s mini-me designer dresses to Brooklyn’s tattoos

David and Victoria Beckham have undoubtedly started many a trend over the years, from clothing to hairstyles, there aren’t many avenues they haven’t ventured.

And their influence has certainly extended to their children, who have been spotted on more than one occasion looking like miniature versions of their famous parents.

Comparisons have been drawn between David, 48, and his boys Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 20 and Cruz, 18, who have all developed his penchant for tattoos.

They have also modelled several of his memorable hairstyles, from the 2001 mohawk to his 2003 cornrows, which were voted the ‘most iconic’ in football history.

Victoria, 49, has also clearly been an inspiration to their daughter Harper, 12, who appears to have picked up the designer’s passion for fashion and beauty.

After Harper most recently followed in her fashionable footsteps by toting a £2,200 Goyard handbag for a yacht trip in Miami, we take a look back at all of the times the Beckham brood have mimicked their mum and dad.

Brooklyn

As the eldest of the Beckham children, Brooklyn has had the most opportunity to find his own style, especially after settling down with wife Nicola Peltz, 28.

However there have been several times Brooklyn has looked just like his dad David and his even copied some of his iconic hairstyles over the years.

Even when he was just 12, Brooklyn appeared to have taken style inspiration from his dad as they attended the Do Something Awards in 2011.

Brooklyn tucked in one side of his white shirt and left the other half loose. It was clear where Brooklyn got his inspiration from, as the unusual look had been favoured by his father at the time.

A few years later in 2016, Brooklyn showed he was every inch his dad’s son, as he was spotted sporting a floppy hairstyle reminiscent of his nineties heartthrob dad.

Looking every inch the 1998 version of his former footballer father, the then 17-year-old showed off his new haircut, having previously sported longer skater-style hair.

Brooklyn and his younger brother Romeo have also both previously sported their dad’s platinum blonde hairstyle, which he donned for much of 2002.

As well as his fashion choices and hairstyles, Brooklyn’s tattoos also seem to have been heavily inspired by David’s own inkings.

In 2018, Brooklyn showed off the latest inking in his collection, which appeared to be inspired by his David’s Jesus and three cherubs tattoo.

Clearly happy with the new inking on his upper left chest – which is in the same position as the football star – the chef happily flaunted it on Instagram.

Brooklyn recently gave a nod to his father on Boxing Day last year, while celebrating the festive period apart from his family.

The budding chef sat down with a dram of Whisky – giving a nod to his dad, who is a partner of Haig Club Scotch Whisky.

In February this year, Brooklyn milked his nepo baby status for all its worth as he mimicked David’s iconic Noughties Got Milk? advert in a campaign.

The Got Milk? campaign debuted in 1993 and saw a slew of celebrities sport ‘milk moustaches’ to encourage dairy consumption.

While it was shelved in 2014, Brooklyn is now at the helm of a similar advertising push but this time for a plant based drinks brand.

Romeo

Like his older brother, Romeo has also been influenced by David’s extensive tattoo collection. The Inter Miami FC owner is believed to have 80 pieces of body art.

In 2022, Romeo proudly debuted an unmissable new tattoo on the back of his neck as well as on the back of his right hand.

He showcased a Jesus cross tattoo featuring a pair of angel wings on the back of his neck as he posed shirtless for his followers.

Following in his famous father’s footsteps, it seems Romeo drew inspiration from David’s 2004 gothic outline in the same spot.

At the beginning of this year, Romeo seemingly opted for another piece of body art inspired by one his dad has on his arm.

Romeo paid tribute to his dad by getting the same motivational quote on his inked father tattooed on himself.

The tattoo artist, Pablo – known as the Official Letterboy, replicated David’s tattoo on Romeo and said: ‘I hope I did it justice! Like father, like son @davidbeckham.’

David’s original tattoo was inked by Mark Mahoney from the Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles and is a quote from Joel Osteen’s book I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life.

It reads: ‘I declare I have the grace I need for today. I am full of power, strength, and determination. Nothing I face will be too much for me.

‘I will overcome every obstacle, outlast every challenge, and come through every difficulty better off than I was before. This is my declaration.’

Cruz  

His brothers and father have amassed a huge array of tattoos now Cruz has followed the family trend by adding to his own tattoo collection.

He took to his Instagram in July to show off the new inking on his arm to his 1.9 million followers. The tattoo appears to only be small and located on his right bicep.

While he has only a few tattoos compared to his father, since turning 18, which is the legal age for a tattoo in the UK, he has slowly been adding to his collection.

However the teenager definitely bares lots of other similarities to his dad, including a blossoming modelling career.

A cover shoot for i-D saw him strip off and go shirtless – just like his dad – while fully exposing his underwear as he sits with his jeans pulled down to his ankles.

The shoot proved he was already morphing into his father – sparking controversy with the provocative shoot which was taken when he was 16-year-old.

Cruz – who had pink hair in the shoot – paid tribute to his dad’s 2000 Arena Homme+ interview, as she showed off his six-pack and flashed his boxers. 

At the time of Cruz’s funky do, David himself was sporting a bright blond buzz cut just like his sons, begging the question of who copied who?

It wouldn’t be the first time that Cruz had copied David’s platinum hairstyle, in 2016 then 11-year-old Cruz had been paying close attention to his famous dad’s choices.

Cruz was seen stepping out for breakfast with his family in Bel-Air rocking bleached blond locks – much like his dad did in 2007.

Retired footballer David famously sported platinum locks in his footballing heyday, just as he and his wife Victoria were preparing to move with their children to LA.

Around the same time, Cruz looked a lot more mature as he posted a funny photo with his dad with a new, bushy black moustache.

Sitting by the poolside, the aspiring singing sensation gave his father a run for his money with his overnight facial hair.

Harper

For the past couple of years Harper has been showing signs of following her mother’s passion for fashion, most recently showing off a £2,200 Goyard handbag.

The bags are beloved by A-listers due to their exclusivity, with new models only available to be bought in person in their boutiques.

Last month, Victoria and David celebrated Harper’s 12th birthday in style as she enjoyed her very own Prada party.

Victoria shared a gallery of snaps from her daughter’s special day, as she dressed up in a lilac satin dress for lunch at the brand’s swanky café in Harrods. 

The snaps showed Harper posing alongside her mother in her pretty party dress – a bespoke mini-me frock from VB’s own brand.

In 2021, Harper borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe once more during the family’s trip to Italy as she modelled one of the star’s very own designs.  

Harper was wearing a take on the £1,682 Woven Silk Jersey Lace Cami Dress from Victoria’s eponymous fashion line.

The former Spice Girl wore the dress herself on Instagram back in May while promoting her beauty line, yet she now seems to have handed down the look to her youngest child, who wore a more modest version with a pinned chest. 

Victoria looked sensational in her own snap in the dress before Harper modelled her near-identical mirror look with just a slight tweak in the front of the gown. 

The stunning gown originally cost £1,682 ($2,350) on Moda Operandi before being slashed to £1,011 ($1,410) and then selling out.  

She added a caption on the shot reading: ‘Harper and daddy (with a major tan going on!!) x kisses @davidbeckham x’.  

Victoria has spoken in the past about Harper’s flair for fashion. Speaking to The Telegraph in 2015, Victoria revealed her kids have a say in her outfit choices – with Harper being particularly vocal.

She divulged: ‘The kids definitely tell me when they like what I’m wearing. I had something on to pick up Harper from school the other day, and she asked me if I would please not wear that for school pick-up.’

‘I think at that age they just want you to sort of blend in, don’t they?’

During an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she revealed, ‘[Harper] has been able to run in a pair of high heels for a long time.’ I’m so proud!

What did she get? Just days ahead of her official birthday, Harper was also treated to a designer gift from her proud parents, posing with the Prada gift bag in one of Victoria’s snaps
