Im A Celebrity star slams pile on and vitriol thrown at Nella Rose
Charlene White has slammed the public “pile on” aimed at Nella Rose.
The Loose Women presenter, 43, took part in the reality series last year and was branded bossy by some fans of the ITV show.
She has now spoken out over the level of vitriol being thrown at the I’m A Celebrity campmate and admitted her heart goes out to Nella, 26.
Writing in her latest column for iNews, Charlene described her friend Fred, 51, as one of the kindest people she knows and said he meant no malice towards Nella, when he said he could be as old as her father.
But the broadcaster admitted that jungle life is not easy – emotionally and psychologically – especially for someone like Nella, who tragically lost both her parents.

Charlene noted the reaction on X, formerly Twitter, following the public showdown between the two campmates was shocking, where people mocked Nella’s appearance, to sweary rants and fatphobic remarks.
“Why? Because she behaved like millions of young people across the country do, by perhaps overreacting to a situation,” she wrote. “The difference, though, is that the pile-on involves a section of the online community who loves nothing more than having a go at women.”
She added: “It’s important to remember that these people are a minority of the general population – but, my goodness, they yell and scream loudly, like petulant children desperate to have someone, anyone, listen to them.
“And they are usually successful in getting that attention.”

Nella started as a fan favourite but many claimed they saw a different side to the 26-year-old when she clashed with Fred.
Viewers were divided over the reaction and took to social media to call for her to be voted out of the show.
Many branded the YouTuber “entitled” and left vile comments about her but many rushed to defend the star and explained she went through heartbreaking losses in her family.
Charlene, who also took part in I’m A Celebrity last year, explained her own sister was forced to delete prejudicial and racial comments made on the social media platform when she took part in the ITV show.
She added someone like Nella, with the same faults as any human, should be applauded for having overcome the many hurdles she’s faced at a young age, from homelessness to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
“It’s like the calls to ‘be kind’ are a distant memory,” Charlene concluded.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight on ITV at 9.30pm.
